The new faces who’ll join the 2025 IDEMITSU Asia Talent Cup grid have been decided at the Selection Event in Malaysia

The Selection Event for the 2025 IDEMITSU Asia Talent Cup has concluded as 10 new permanent riders are chosen to join the grid next season, with 8 riders also added to the reserve list. On a sweltering Wednesday at the Sepang Karting Track a stone’s throw away from the Petronas Sepang International Circuit, the nearly 100 hopefuls took to the track to demonstrate their skills to try and claim their place in next year’s ATC.

Action began in the morning and concluded mid-afternoon, with a team of experts on hand to assess the riders, led by Dorna External Talent Promotion Director and Repsol Honda Team Manager, Alberto Puig. 2009 250cc World Champion, Hiroshi Aoyama, was also casting a watchful eye alongside rider coaches Joan Olive and Diego Lozano. Plus, some current and former ATC stars were trackside to watch the action and lend some advice.

After numerous sessions on track, some names were selected to continue to the next stage until the final decisions and announcements were made following the conclusion of the last outing. 10 riders – nine boys and one girl – were chosen outright, and 8 additional names were selected as reserves, with the 20-strong rider list representing 10 countries: Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Philippines, and India.

Now, the selected riders will prepare for their exciting new challenge over the winter ahead of the 2025 season as they get set to begin their Road to MotoGP™ journey.
