The ATC has touched down in Thailand for another two showdowns this weekend
After one race at Motegi won by Shinya Ezawa on home turf, it’s a quick turnaround for the next round of the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup in Buriram. A new track in the ATC for many in the field, the Thai venue is fast becoming a classic and has a final corner just built for a grandstand finish. So who will come out on top this weekend?
Jakkreephat Phuettisan, Thanakorn Lakharn and Thanat Laoongplio race on home turf and they’ll be pushing to bring home some big points, but there are the habitual podium finishers looking to get in their way. Ezawa leads that charge now after taking another win, and he’s also the new points leader thanks to his Motegi victory. Hakim Danish will want to stamp some authority back on proceedings after having done the double at Mandalika, and Gun Mie is looking for some redemption after his adventurous home round. Contact, a penalty and then a crash out of the lead leave him needing to hit back in the standings too.
Hamad al-Sahouti proved his podium pace once more and will want to do that again, the Qatari now no stranger to parc ferme, and then there’s Amon Odaki. After a stunning first round the rookie was a little off the lead group on home turf, and Buriram will see him aiming to get back in the fight for the rostrum. That will also be true of Carter Thompson, the Australian the recipient of the aforementioned contact from Mie, as he looks to put some points on the board to match his speed.
There are two races this weekend for the ATC, with lights out for Race 1 on Saturday at 16:30 (GMT +7) before Race 2 on Sunday at 9:00.
