The Japanese rider was fastest in both Free Practice sessions for the Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup at the Japanese circuit.
Ayumu Sasaki led the two Free Practice sessions held on Friday at the Motegi circuit where the Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup runs alongside the Motul Grand Prix of Japan.
The two sessions developed under perfect conditions and with little incident, only a fall for China’s Shengjunjie Zhou, which resulted in a slight abrasion to his left arm.
Sasaki set a best time of 2’02.605, near the circuit record which is currently held by Yuta Date (2’02.468). Second was his compatriot Kunimine who compensated for a modest start in the first session where he was ninth. Behind there was an excellent performance from Indonesia’s Izdihar who was third. Japan’s Ogura (winner of a race in Zhuhai) and Malaysians Rostam and Norrodin completed the second row.
Tomorrow’s schedule includes a Qualifying session to determine grid positions, scheduled for 8:45 Local Time (GMT +9) and the first race, which will run over 15 laps around the Twin Ring Motegi Circuit will be held at 16:15 Local Time (GMT +9).
