The 2nd edition of the cup was launched at the Honda Welcome Plaza in Tokyo with the help of the Japanese riders who will compete in the championship this year.
The event at Honda’s headquarters in Japan was organised by former MotoGP™ star Nobuatsu Aoki and attended by the riders Ayumu Sasaki, Takuma Kunimine, Kazuki Masaki, Kite Fuse, Ai Ogura, Ryusei Yamanaka and Yuta Date as well as the champion from last season Kaito Toba.
Also present were representatives from companies who support the competition, such as Shuhei Nakamoto (Vice President of HRC) and Hiroshi Yamada (Manager of Bridgestone’s Motorsport Department), along with people from Shell, Nissin and Alpinestars.
The second season of the Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup begins on 21 March with the first two races taking place at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram (Thailand), as a part of the second round of the WorldSBK Championships.
